Olugbenga is a Lecturer/Researcher in Social Sciences Education at University of the Free State in South Africa and a member of the editorial boards of International Journal of Computing Sciences Research in Philippines, Journal of Education Research and Rural Community Development in South Africa.

He undertakes refereeing for a few journals that feature on Scopus, Web of Science, Norwegian list, and South African Department of Higher Education and training lists.
