Professor C. I. Okeke is a professional teacher trainer and academic researcher. He has since 2001 been teaching and supervising at Universities in Nigeria, South Africa, and the Kingdom of Eswatini. His interest in the sociology of education culminated in a PhD thesis at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka in 2003.

He rose from the position of research fellow in 2003 to the rank of Professor in January 2017. His research concerns how young children develop during their educational studies. In particular, how their life experiences can enable them to transcend the potential that appears to be laid out for them by their socio-economic origins. He is Head, School of Education Studies, University of the Free State, Bloemfontein, South Africa.
